Manchester City Interested In Maddison Transfer As Part Of Midfield Overhaul

As part of a significant midfield overhaul that could also include Jude Bellingham, Manchester City is reportedly going to target James Maddison in the summer.

Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, the current Premier League champions, are in risk of leaving the club in the summer as their contracts are about to expire.

According to rumours, Barcelona, who has also been associated with Bernardo lately, and also interested in Gundogan.

Given that City would be lacking in a crucial area of the field, Bernardo has even acknowledged that he is aiming for a “new project” and will be willing to go “if something fantastic happens elsewhere.”

Pep Guardiola’s team has been forced to consider other options in midfield as a result, and Mail Online reports that they will be pushing to recruit Maddison from Leicester City after making an inquiry about the playmaker in January.

They are also keeping an eye on the position of English talent Jude Bellingham, who is now being sought by Liverpool and Real Madrid on behalf of Borussia Dortmund.
