Foden Wins Premier League Player Of The Season

Phil Foden’s incredible season with Manchester City has earned him the title of Premier League Player of the Season.

Foden was included on the award’s shortlist earlier this month, along with Erling Haaland of City, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard of Arsenal, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool. The 23-year-old has now been officially declared winner.

The England international said: “To win this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of. The Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world, and it is a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs. Overall, I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season. I’d like to thank all of the City staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible. And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me as the award means a lot.”

With 25 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, the winger—who can also play as an attacking midfielder—has had his greatest season yet for City. Due to his performances, Pep Guardiola’s team is in the FA Cup final and might win the Premier League for the fourth time in a row.

Foden will cap off a remarkable individual season when his Premier League title-chasing City host West Ham on Sunday on the last day of the campaign. A win against David Moyes’ side will see them pip Arsenal to the title for the second year running.
