Man Utd Boss Ten Hag Explains Antony’s Poor Form

Erik ten Hag has explained why Antony has been performing poorly and stated that the player needs to work hard to regain form.

With a transfer cost of an incredible £85 million ($99 million), Antony left Ajax for Manchester United more than a year ago, but the Brazilian hasn’t yet adjusted to life in England. Thus far in the current campaign, the winger has not scored a goal or assisted another, despite having only eight goals and three assists in 44 games in his first season.

Manager Ten Hag explained that the player’s abrupt absence from the team during the season due to off-field events disrupted his rhythm and that he now needs to put in a lot of work in training to get back on track. This is what went wrong with the former Ajax player, according to Ten Hag.

Speaking to reporters, Ten Hag said: “[He was] out for a couple of weeks so that broke the rhythm. Had a good pre-season but had a break so now has to get himself back in good form. It’s hard work.”

The 23-year-old was forced to miss four games in September when it became known that he was the subject of an English police investigation after his ex-girlfriend accused him of violence.

The Red Devils will play Copenhagen in a Champions League match on Wednesday after winning crucially against Fulham over the weekend.
