Hundreds of women from Nwang-Ekpugrinya community in Ogoja Local Government Area earlier are bitter about what happened to their folk, 26-year-old woman, Lucy Morshie,

She was lured to a nearby stream close to the farm, by her supposed lover, Malime Ejo, 35, without bargaining for what eventually happened to her there.

The Police Force, in Cross River, confirmed that Ejo killed his lover there for reasons yet to be clear.

The anger was what mobilised women in the area as they marched through the streets, later gathering at the Divisional Police Station in Ogoja.

By then, the police had arrested and detained the suspect, but bitter, the women demanded the release of the suspect, ostensibly to deal with him the way it suited them best.

The police command’s spokesman, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said the victim was killed on Saturday at a farm in Nwang Village, Ekajuk, in Ogoja..

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives promptly visited the scene. The suspect was apprehended and rescued from attempted mob action by angry youths.

“He is currently in police custody for his safety pending ongoing investigation,” he said.

Eitokpah added that the victim’s remains were yet to be deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary in Ogoja as arrangements were ongoing.

He said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
