Loud Explosive Sounds: Police Alerts Eko Atlantic City Residents

If you live around the Eko Atlantic City and environs, then this directive from the Lagos State Police Command is for you.
It concerns noise of explosive sounds likely to rock your neighourhood Thursday, August, 28, 2024.
The command said the explosive sounds would be coming from the direction of its Improvised Explosive Device (IED) simulation exercise, and that residents need not panic.
Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) CSP Benjamin Hundeyin , who announced the simulation exercise in his X handle, stated:
“This exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the preparedness and response capabilities of the Police in the event of any bomb-related emergency
“It will involve controlled detonations by specialized units trained to handle explosive devices and related threats”, he stated.
Advising members of the public not to panic upon hearing unusual noises, he assured that there would be no shrapnel or associated danger.

“Residents, workers, and visitors in and around the Eko Atlantic City area are therefore advised to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and not to panic when they hear the sounds.
The Command reassures Lagosians that adequate safety measures have been put in place to ensure no direct threat to life.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh uses this medium to appeal for the cooperation and understanding of the public while this important simulation exercise is conducted and assures them that the Command remains committed to their safety, security, and well-being”, he stated.
