Kidnapper Disappears With Crying Baby After Offering To Assist Mum Hold Him

Kidnappers are growing more desperate by the day: one moment one offers to help mum with crying baby, only to disappear with the baby the next moment.

Now the hapless mum is distraught, afraid what may befall the seven month baby, and at a loss how to explain it all to the father.

Traders who witnessed the resulting fiasco at the Amaraku market in the Isiala Mbano council area of Imo state, are still shell shocked at the kidnapper’s trickery.

Many of them are reported to have begun combing the market and environs the moment the news broke to no avail.

The mother, had been carried away by the turnout of clients and busied herself selling to them while the baby was strapped behind her back, Vanguard indicates in a report, quoting an eyewitness.

Not only did the unsuspecting month obliged the kidnapper her offer to assist with the baby, but also released a wrapper to her to help in the process.

“I was buying some foodstuff at Amaraku Market when a woman started shouting, ‘My baby, my baby, where is my baby?’, the eyewitness began.

“She had given her seven-month-old baby out to a stranger, while she was selling okro and other vegetables because the baby was crying and disturbing.

“The stranger carried the baby on her back but later disappeared into the crowd. When the woman realised the woman was no longer in sight, she started shouting and crying.

“Other traders around helped to search for the woman but could not find her. The woman may have been charmed by the stranger because no one in her right senses will release her baby in such an environment with over ten thousand buyers and sellers.

“What is she going to tell her husband?”

Last February, The Eagle reports, the police had arrested a 34-year-old self-acclaimed fake prophet identified as Osinachi Makuo at Mbano, alongside a 50-year-old mother for various criminal offenses. The police identified the man as a fake prophet of a new generation church who hailed from Ehime Mbano and the suspected kidnapper-woman from Mbgidi in Oru West LGA.

Both, the police informed, had conspired for abduction and attempted murder of a young man said to be the only son of the woman’s ex-husband.
