Ikeja Electric Apologises Power Outage, Lists Advantages Of New Substation

Ikeja Electric Plc, has sent out an apology to its customers over failure in delivering power to them as expected.

It has also praised its new power substation, while listing its overral advantages.

Apologising on its website over failure to deliver power to its Band Customers for August, Ikeja Electric Plc stated: “We apologise for falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours on the Band A feeders below for August 11th and 12th, 2025.

“We regret any inconvenience this may have cost you”

It also recently commissioned its Kwaru 15 MVA Injection Substation Lagos, describing the project, located in Abaranje, Ikotun area of Lagos State as a cutting-edge Substation.

The company expressed optimism that the new substation would help drastically improve power supply quality and reliability for thousands of residents and businesses within the area.

The commissioning ceremony, held at the substation site, was attended by high-ranking government officials, industry regulators, community leaders, and key stakeholders, underscoring the collective commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s power sector.

The power distribution company said the new injection substation, equipped with advanced technology, is designed to achieve the following:

1. improve electricity reliability for approximately 50,000 residents and businesses,
2. serve as an economic development catalyst for local enterprises,
3. enhance distribution network resilience by adding 15 MVA capacity,
4. support ongoing urban development initiatives,
5. demonstrate enhanced technical capabilities within the local electrical industry,
6. reduce transmission losses, and boost load management capabilities, ensuring a more stable and efficient energy utilisation.

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who graced the event lauded what he described as Ikeja Electric’s commitment to infrastructure development.
