Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not feature at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, the Swedish FA has announced.
A statement on the Swedish FA’s website, via manager Lars Richt read: “I talked to Zlatan on Tuesday. He announced that he did not change the national team game – it is no.”
There had been speculation, much of it fuelled by Ibrahimovic himself, that the former Manchester United striker would come out of international retirement and be part of the Sweden squad in Russia.
However, he has now decided not to make himself available.
