How Early Morning Explosion Leveled 100 Houses, School, Churches

It is double jeopardy in Akure, the Ondo state capital where no fewer than 100 residential buildings, school and churches have been destroyed by an explosion.

The blast suspected to be bomb, was what woke up residents, sending jitters down the spine in an area where the fear of corona virus had humbled residents weeklong.

Reports monitored by The Eagle showed that the blast injured a number of people effectively cutting off the busy Akure /Owo road.

According to report the incident happened less than a kilometre to Akure Airport, affecting many residents of Eleyowo community, destroying completely a church and a school in the area.

Many people who lived within the church premises were said to be injured while some were rescued by the people of the community. The school with boarding facilities was destroyed beyond repair with roofs of all the buildings blown off.
