How Amotekun Corps Changed The Fate OF 16 Abducted Passengers?

This story is rife, how the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps changed the fate of 16 abducted passengers.

More interesting is that they did so, without paying a dime, a dire operation that saw them outwitting armed robbers, cultists, and kidnappers in their game.

The operations covered a kidnap issue in Ose and Arimogija axis of Ondo State involving an 18-passenger bus, and the whisking away of two members of a community in a flash of light.

Victims in both cases were all rescued without a loss of a strand of their hair.

Giving a background while parading the suspects, the Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, stated that littered properties of the victims were successfully rescued and handed over to them.

He described the first incident as a “very serious kidnap issue”, saying the rescue operation was made possible with the help of the military and other security outfits.

“There was a joint operation involving men of the 32 Artillery Brigade, the Nigeria Police, the NSCDC and the Amotekun Corps.

“This involves an 18-passenger bus and to the glory of God, we were also able, without payment of any ransom, secure the release of 16 victims and most of their properties that were littered, were put together and delivered to them and have since, reunited with their families,” he said.

The suspects paraded in relation to the case included armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists and a group specialising in snatching and dismantling automobiles.

Aside how the Amotekun Corps changed the fate of 16 abducted passengers, there was another case of kidnap of two unwary persons, which also sae the corps swinging into quick action.

“Just yesterday”, according to Adeleye , “we got a distress call from a community in Akure, that two of their members were whisked away and within few minutes, we got there, cordoned off the area, rescued them and arrested one of the kidnappers who confessed that other four gun-wielding members have fled to the southern part of the country.

“We also have some suspected armed robbers and cultists and we have a group that specializes in dismantling stolen Okada and sell to another group resident in Osogbo.

“In collaboration with the Amotekun Corps in Osun State, we were able to arrest the kingpin who took us to the receiver in Akure”.

Providing additional background to the seeming spike in crime activities in the area, he linked it to what he described as “an unusual increase of influx of herdsmen into our communities and most of the time, it goes with kidnapping”

Crimes like housebreaking and stealing he said though, had been on the decline.

“I want to thank members of the public for feeding us with timely information and we assure, that information given before and now will continue to be treated in the strictest confidence,” he said.
