His Own Mother, But He Hacked Her To Death

What could make a man to hack his own mother, a woman who bore him in the womb for 12 months and nurtured him to adulthood to death using a machete?

This is the unspoken puzzle that many in the Ikot Inyang village, located in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State are trying to resolve.

It follows the action of one Alexander Peter now cooling off with the police over allegedly hacking his 71-year-old mother, Mrs Atiny Peter, to death with a machete.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, who confirmed the attack a press briefing at the police headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, added the suspect was apprehended on June 10.

“The gruesome incident occurred in Ikot Inyang Village, Oruk Anam Local Government Area, where the suspect reportedly used the machete to hack his mother to death,” Azare said.

According to him, his men are working to unravel other issues that may have made the suspect eliminate his own mother in such a manner.

He said the police in the state has also arrested a total of 54 suspects in the last six weeks in connection with various criminal offences and over 50 arms and rounds of ammunition were recovered.
