The quest to see controversial politician, Dino Melaye become next Kogi State governor, may be on a sound footing if the caliber of persons committing to the project is anything to go by.
Melaye is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the elections, and now enjoys heavy political covering in the capacity of his campaign council members.
They are now assuring the people of the state that development would soon reach them once Dino Melaye is elected governor.
The Chairman of the Council, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State met the elders and stakeholders of the Kogi West chapter of the PDP in Kabba, Kogi State, raising high hopes of a formidable Melaye outing in the polls.
In a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawa governed le Rasheed, in Abuja earlier today, the governor said:
“Kogi people know that when PDP was in office, their lives were better than now. Their business concerns were doing well, their salaries were paid in full and things generally moved smoothly.
“I’m Imole (light) and Dino is Imole too. Together, we are bringing light to Kogi State and I implore the people of Kogi State to unite and rescue the state.
“I have told Gov. Yahaya Bello that Imole is coming to Kogi State. Our campaign will be issue based and we shall repeat the Osun feat in Kogi State by God’s grace, “ Adeleke said.
He called on the people of Kogi State not to be deceived again but to join hands together and move both the PDP and Kogi State forward.
Also mobilised to the project is renowned professor and director of the defunct Mass Mobilization for Social Justice and Economic Recovery, (MAMSER) which held sway during the Ibrahim Babangida military dispensation, Professor Jerry Gana.
He is the Chairman, Contact and Mobilisation Committee of the National Campaign, and has come forth to declare his “golden opportunity to produce the next governor of Kogi State”.
He added: “You must pull all your political capital together to ensure that the opportunity of producing a governor this time does not elude you”.
There is also PDP National Vice Chairman (North Central) Mr Dakas Shan; Secretary of the National Campaign Council and Senator Biodun Olujimi.
Dino Melaye and his team would be squaring up with a no-less formidable campaign council that the incumbent, Governor Yahaya Bello had put together.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has as its Director-General the Minister of and Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu.
