Christian Pilgrimages Been Suspended

Has Christian pilgrimages been suspended for Nigerians intending to visit the holy land, a fundamental Christian obligation?

Well, that is the question on the lips of many, following rumours making the rounds to the effect. A clarification from the Executive Secretary Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam.

He has come forward to say that the alleged suspension of the 2022 Christian pilgrimage by the Chairman of the Board of the Commission, Rev Yomi Kasali, is false.

The Executive Secretary made the clarification via a statement by Mr Celestine Toruka,

It was while playing host to the College of Mary Immaculate, Zawan Old Students Association, (ZOSA), Jos Plateau.

Providing further clarification, Pam affirmed that the 2022 main Christian pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan was ston course.

According to him, some of the Commission’s staff were already screening intending pilgrims in about twelve states of the federation.

Has Christian pilgrimages been suspended? Another clarification he made was the commission was collaborating with state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards towards effective mobilisation and sensitisation of those desirious of embarking on the pilgrimage to the holy land.

Killings of Christians in Nigeria anger TrumpThe Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, the reverend added, would continue to exhaust opportunities towards making the pilgrimage exercise a memorable one for Nigerian pilgrims.

Speaking on what has been his achievements on the desk, he said:

” Prominent among my  achievements was my  ability to have successfully conducted three pilgrimages within two years on the saddle.

“I was also able to expand the frontiers of Christian Pilgrimage through the introduction of Jordan as a viable pilgrimage destination in 2021,” he said.
