Guardiola Hints De Zerbi Potential To Become Next Man City Manager
Pep Guardiola believes Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi could be the next manager of Manchester City.
Thanks to De Zerbi’s brilliant footballing mind, the Seagulls were able to stave off a rampaging City to a 1-1 draw in the previous Premier League match at the Amex Stadium. According to The Telegraph, Guardiola believes the Italian should be “the next Man City manager” after being so pleased with his game-winning methods.

The two-time treble-winning coach is a huge admirer of Brighton’s style of play, especially the way they build from the back. De Zerbi’s nuanced use of the “free man” which allows his players to get more time on the ball before splitting apart their opponents is also something that is lauded by Guardiola. In fact, the Spanish manager has no qualms in accepting that he tries to learn from De Zerbi’s methods.
Guardiola’s current deal at City continues through the end of the following campaign. De Zerbi might take over the role if the 52-year-old does not agree to a contract extension at Etihad, provided he is not acquired by another European powerhouse given his rising star with each passing season.
However, when City hosts Brighton on Saturday, two of the greatest football minds will aim to defeat one another in the near term.
