A fetish priest has been nabbed attempting to exhume a corpse just after thirty minutes it was buried and now has to spend next two years in prison.

When nabbed however, Yaw Michael, told investigators that he was attempting to free the spirit of the dead so that he could avenge those who killed him.

He said he saw in a dream how the killers of the Kwabena Agyapong had kept his spirit in a bottle placed in the coffin and that he went to the cemetery to dig his grave and free his spirit so he could avenge his death.

But the court presided over by Michael Derrick Ocloo, considered all that cock and bull story and handed down the sentence to Yaw Michael after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Effiduase Magistrate Court in the Ashanti Region of Ghana where the case was heard said the accused caused unlawful damage, contrary to section 172 of Act 29/60.

Apparently, the fetish priest was only trying to cash in on an opportunity, going by the accounts of the District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Asare Bediako.

The police chief told Daily Guide that on April 13, 2020, the deceased, Kwabena Agyapong, a form two student of Ejisu Senior High Technical School, on his way to a building site was shot in the abdomen by armed robbers, who also robbed him of his mobile phone and GH¢10.00 at a place close to Effiduase Roman Catholic Church.

He was first rushed to the Effiduase Government Hospital before being referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where he died the following day.

The twist however was that 30 minutes after his burial at the Effiduase Cemetery on April 20 at about 2:00pm, the police received information that someone had gone to the graveyard in an attempt to exhume Kwabena Agyapong’s body.

The police rushed to the scene and found the convicted fetish priest tampering with concrete slabs covering the grave.

Yaw Michael told investigators that he saw in a dream how Agyapong’s killers had kept his spirit in a bottle placed in the coffin so he was at the cemetery to dig his grave and free his spirit so he could avenge his death.
