‘Everyone Wants To Be Like CR7’ – How Cristiano Ronaldo Remains Unique

The Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed the strategies for staying different, acknowledging that “everyone” aspires to be him.

Few have achieved the heights attained by the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, yet many strive to be like him. Ronaldo has made a career out of making sure that the majority of his domestic and international opponents are unable to attain a certain level of individual brilliance, with the exception of his enduring nemesis Lionel Messi.

The record books will be regularly rewritten to reflect his status as one of the greatest of all time. Now that he plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo has made sure that his throne never falls, and he has no plans to let his legendary work rate wane.

Ronaldo has told the Whoop podcast of maintaining remarkable standards: “Talent without work is nothing and work without talent is nothing. They have to work together at the same time. I have both. I can’t say that I have more of one than the other. Small details will make the difference. Consistency is the most difficult thing. Are you willing to do that? That’s the main point because everyone wants to be Cristiano, but doing it is difficult. Discipline is the most difficult thing. I fight against my mind sometimes, we are all human beings. Of course, I don’t like going to the gym every day, no one does, but you have to do it.”

Ronaldo, a 39-year-old forward with 48 goals for Al-Nassr this season, is still going strong. The Portugal international has a contract extension in the works that will keep him far into the age of 40 in February 2025, so retirement is still a ways off.
