Dino Melaye Goes Philosophical As PDP Appoints Him Campaign Director

Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)  has gone philosophical over his recent appointment.

He is obviously not impressed by the decision of the party asking him to head Kogi Governorship election as its Campaign Director-General.

Melaye, while rejecting the appointment via his Twitter handle @dino-melaye; and Facebook wall went philosophical thus: “Let me state categorically that I have turned down the position of the Director-General of the Kogi State Governorship

“I wish PDP all the best. When truth is a casualty, there is chaos.”

Melaye’s appointment as the Director-General of Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council was announced yesterday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan

Melaye, is currently the Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Recall that he was recently sacked by an election tribunal has assured his supporters that he would be victorious at a higher court.

In the same manner he reacted to the PDP appointment, he had taken to his Twitter handle, to say he would get judgment at the appeal court.

“No cause for alarm at all. Even if it went my way they will still go to the Appeal Court. Our mandate cannot be taken. We will get judgment at the Appeal Court,” he wrote.

He also restated his desire to contest the Kogi State governorship election in November.

“There will be fresh election in Kogi West because I will be Governor. For my Senate mandate no shaking,’’ he wrote.

The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Friday nullified the election of Mr Melaye.

In a statement, he said his legal team was already studying the judgement, adding that he would appeal it.

Melaye said the  judgement was full of importation of information that was alien to the case.

 “I, however, commend the courage and moral strength of the Chairman of the tribunal for resisting evil and standing on the part of justice.”

“I have confidence in the Appeal Court to right the wrongs as contained in the pronouncements of the judgement.”

 “I also want to tell those jubilating that their jubilation will be short-lived while appealing to my teeming supporters to remain calm as their mandate is safe and secure and cannot be taken through any mischievous means.

“However, our legal team is already working on appealing the judgment and I assure all that justice will prevail.”, he had said.
