Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, has spoken on the chances of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He has also , called on All Progressives Congress (APC) members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
Barau made the statement on Sunday, November 1, during the inauguration of campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas in Kano State..
There, he declared that Tinubu would win the polls.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, Barau said assessments by political analysts and developments in the country’s political landscape suggested that Tinubu would secure another term.
“Based on the assessments of political analysts and the current state of Nigerian politics, all indications suggest that, by Allah’s grace, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the presidential election,” he said.
He urged party members to put aside their differences, work together and campaign for APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 general election.
He commended party leaders, elected representatives, local government chairmen, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other stakeholders for their support, expressing confidence that the party would sustain its unity in the state.
Barau described Kano as politically significant because of its large number of registered voters, saying the state deserved greater attention and development opportunities from the Federal Government.
He also described Governor Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC as a strategic move that had strengthened Kano’s political position and improved its prospects of attracting development projects.
According to Barau, the alignment of the governor, lawmakers, local government chairmen and councillors under the APC would help translate the party’s political strength into benefits for residents.
He said the campaign committees comprised party leaders, executive members, former and serving legislators, councillors, local government chairmen, new party members and respected elders.
Barau charged the committee members to mobilise voters and campaign for APC candidates across all levels of government.
“What is required of you is to play your part actively in securing victory. Mobilise, campaign and ensure that all APC candidates emerge victoriously from top to bottom,” he said.
