Alphonso Davies, a defender for Bayern Munich, is delaying signing a new deal while he waits for a Real Madrid offer.

Davies’ current deal with the Bundesliga champions expires in 2025, and he has not yet reached an agreement on new terms.

The Canadian international is awaiting a proposal from Real, who might want to offload Ferland Mendy this summer, according to Bayern Insider.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Davies, but their present strategy is to hold off until the following summer, when he will have one year left on his contract and his price will be more reasonable. They might even try to wait until the Canadian’s contract expires in 2025 and try to sign him for nothing.

Although it was originally believed that Davies had been signed to play as a winger, Davies has previously expressed his anger at being compelled to play as a left defender on a regular basis while at Bayern. Since joining Bayern from the Vancouver Whitecaps, he has played in 153 matches.

Bayern will go to Japan for their preseason games against Manchester City, Kawasaki Frontale, and Liverpool, and Davies is set to play a part in those matches.
