Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Silence After Horror Miss In AFC Champions League

by Gbenga Oladosu

Portugal icon, Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed that Al-Nassr will “bounce back” after their exit from the AFC Champions League.

The second leg of Al-Nassr’s quarterfinal match against UAE Pro League team Al Ain ended in a 3-1 loss in a penalty shootout, sending the team out of the continental competition. Ronaldo’s late-game penalty kick conversion forced extra time into penalties, but he also squandered a clear opportunity from three yards out when the Al Ain goalkeeper parried the ball right into his path.

The 39-year-old took to Instagram to break his silence on the heart-breaking AFC Champions League loss, sharing a team photo from the match with the caption: “Thank you for your support. We’ll find a way to bounce back and come back stronger! Together, always!”

Manager Luis Castro lamented the team’s loss, saying that “justice was not on our side” because Al-Nassr had the better play and many scoring opportunities. In the last few months of the season, Al-Nassr still has the Saudi Super Cup and the Saudi Pro League to contend with. They are now 12 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

The former star of Real Madrid and Manchester United will next be seen playing for his team on Friday when they play a crucial league match against Al-Ahli.
