Deplorable State Of Roads

Kindly allow me a space in your widely read website to express my view about the deplorable state of roads in my area.

I live around Sango Ota, which falls under Ado Odo ota Local Government Area Ogun state, and the roads in this area are in such a deplorable condition that the people have started doubting if they are Nigerians.

The condition of these roads has debilitating effects on lives of the people.

The pot holes have damaging effects on vehicles plying the roads. Both the private vehicle owners and commercial bus drivers are wailing daily, complaining about the damaging effects of these roads on their vehicles.

Many private car owners have parked their cars because they spend a lot of money repairing them, while many transporters have withdrawn their vehicles from the road.

This ultimately affects movement of people and goods from one place to the other in the area. As a result of this too, transport fares are exorbitant.

Secondly, the area has become danger zone for those travelling from Lagos to Abeokuta.

Apart from incessant road accident and loss of lives which would have been prevented if these roads were to be in good shape, travelers are robbed of their valuables and money.

In fact the state of the roads has left to the folding up of some companies in the area.

    Dear Editor,
I wish to bring to your notice the constant traffic along Oke-afa, Isolo Axis of Lagos State. This is due to the fact that the road that leads to this axis is not wide enough for road users; vehicles cluster together due to impatience, thereby causing serious traffic along that road. We will be glad if it can be looked into by the state Government. it will help if the road is expanded for easy access by the road users.

    Yours faithfully
    Josephine Johnson
