Cab Driver Recounts Tiktoker Cecilia Achieng’s Moments Before Tragic Accident

An online cab driver has recalled the moments preceding the tragic cab accident that eventually claimed the life of popular TikToker Cecilia Achieng.

Achieng, known to her TikTok followers as Cess has left friends and fans heartbroken after she was struck and killed by a vehicle along a busy highway.

The tragic accident is coming on the heels of Cecilia’s university graduation, and the driver who was hired by friends to take the intoxicated graduand home is now reflecting on what happened.

According to the driver, Patrick Muthami: it has become necessary for the friends to intervene because Tik Toker has become intoxicated in the aftermath of the celebrations of her graduation.

“I told them to pay upfront so that I could set off and drop the client without any issues”, Muthami recalled, adding that his requesting an upfront payment had been informed by his observation that the lady had become intoxicated and may not be in the right frame of mind to settle him after the ride.

He said matters changed shortly after commencement of the journey.

Achieng had become agitated and was questioning where she was being taken.

“I told her we were yet to arrive at her destination as indicated in the request, which was Juja”.

If Muthami thought his response had settled the matter, he had another think coming, given what began to manifest as they approached the Ruiru flyover.

“She grabbed my shirt from behind and pulled back. I realised if I didn’t act quickly, we could cause an accident. So I held her hand with one hand while steering with the other,” he said.

Muthami was thinking of discontinuing the journey, and quickly called the friend who booked the ride to tell him so.

However, that one thought Achieng could come down if she should sight other friends around her

“The guy asked me, ‘Has she refused to speak to us completely?’ I said yes. He said, ‘Let her go; she knows what she’s doing,’” Muthami recalled.

Achieng got down from the vehicle saying she would find her way back to her friend’s apartment.

It was not to be so.

The next news that came was that she had been hit by a vehicle.

began walking along the pedestrian path by the highway, saying she would find her way back to her friend’s house.

That was the last time she was seen alive. Achieng, known to her TikTok followers as Cess, was later fatally hit by a vehicle on the highway.
