Breaking News On NECO On Conduct Of Exams, Release Of Results

Examinations under the National Examinations Council (NECO) will take a new form, going by a breaking news on NECO released today by the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman .

He provided the update while speaking in Minna at the commissioning of five projects by the National Examinations Council (NECO), targeted at improving its operations.

The commissioned projects include 70 examination logistics vehicles, the NECO drivers’ pool, the senior secondary classroom block of the NECO staff school, the NECO data center, and the NECO scanning centre

The minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Andrew David Adejoh disclosed that the National Examinations Council (NECO) would soon get flying boats for examination logistics.

This, according to him, will enable the examination body to be able to transport essential examination materials into places, especially riverine areas that cannot be reached by vehicles.

According to him, the purchase of 79 examination logistics vehicles by NECO is a step in the right direction and would limit the spread of examination leakages.

He said President Bola Tinubu’s administration was determined to strengthen NECO and other education bodies across the country, hence it was taking new measures aimed at improving the capacity of NECO

On the data centre for example, the minister described it as key to overral plans of improving efficiency, saying it was the backbone of the digital age that NECO was pursuing.

He said it would also act as a central repository for all NECO data ensuring its protection and efficient retrieval.

In the breaking news from NECO too, its Registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi spoke about the purchase of 70 new examination logistics vehicles, saying it marked a significant milestone in NECO’s quest to ensure seamless and timely delivery of examination materials.

He expressed the optimism that the new acquisition would eliminate logistical challenges often hindering smooth conduct of examinations by making possible prompt mobilisation of examination centres nationwide.

Wushishi added that the exam data and scanning centres as equipped would now be able to expedite action in terms of processing examination scripts.

This he said would also result in prompt release of results and also safeguard sensitive examination data.

 Part of the breaking news by NECO was the announcement of the construction of three new National Examinations Council state offices in Gombe, Kastina, and Kogi states.

In addition, he informed, the National Assembly has appropriated National Examinations Council to construct seven additional state offices in Nasarawa, Rivers, Lagos, Sokoto, Taraba, Jigawa, and Abia states.
