Breaking: Bobrisky Investigative Panel Submits Report

The Bobrisky investigative panel, set up to ascertain whether or the cross dresser stayed in prison why serving his term has submitted its report.

Set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, it has submitted that the cross dresser, whose real name is, Idris Okuneye, served his term at the Medium and the Maximum Security Custodial Centres but enjoyed special privileges.

This was stated by a member of the Bobrisky Investigative Panel and the Executive Director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, Uju Agomoh.

The clarification came to the fore in Abuja today, while Agomoh was reading the first phase of the panel’s report.

Though the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalena Ajani, who chaired the Bobrisky panel, says investigating is ongoing over the alleged corruption and other violations levelled against the centre, Agomoh listed the privileges that Bobriksy enjoyed in both Custodial Centres, to include:

1. furnished single cells,
2. a humidifier,
3. lots of visits from his family members and friends.
4. self-feeding
5. designation of inmates to run errands for him
6. access to fridge and television
7. possibly, access to his phone.

“It is necessary to further investigate if the above privileges provided for Okuneye Idris were financially motivated and based on corrupt practices by correctional officers.

“The panel believes that the peculiar case of the inmates and the inmates’ physical look and behaviour pose a threat, and the lack of laid-down rules for the treatment of such a case may have necessitated such privileges to be granted to Okunenye Idris.”

According to Agomoh, Bobrisky’s transfer to a maximum security facility as a first offender violated Section 164A and Section 164B of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act of 2019.
