Big Blow For Barca As Cancelo Hobbles Out of Las Palmas Clash

In the first minutes of Barcelona’s La Liga matchup against Las Palmas on Thursday, Joao Cancelo had to be substituted.

Cancelo was included in the starting lineup for Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Las Palmas in 2024. However, the Manchester City defender on loan could only play for ten minutes before being replaced by Andreas Christensen due to a leg injury.

Xavi will be hoping that Cancelo’s injury is not serious as the Portugal international has been a key player for his team since moving from City in the summer. The versatile defender has become a regular in the team, playing at both right-back and left-back. Barcelona are thought to be keen to keep hold of Cancelo past the end of the season when his current loan deal expires.

Barcelona opened the season with seven straight losses on the road in La Liga, although they ended up winning seven of the first thirteen games (D2 L4).
