Bayern Munich Confirm Shock Kompany Appointment

Vincent Kompany, a Belgian, has been confirmed by Bayern Munich as their new head coach, succeeding Thomas Tuchel.

The Belgian manager, who had a terrible season at Turf Moor and was unable to keep Burnley afloat in the Premier League, is about to start a new chapter in his professional coaching career with one of the elite European clubs. Bayern has demonstrated its faith in Kompany by offering Burnley a compensation money of approximately €10–12 million (£8.50–$11–$10–$13 million), according to Sky Germany, in an attempt to get him to join the team. A three-year contract that will keep the former Manchester City centre back at Allianz Arena until 2027 has been given to him.

In an attempt to find a successor for Tuchel, who may decide to resume his career in the Premier League after leaving the German team, Bayern has had a difficult few months. The Bavarian giants were turned down by Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick, among others; Kompany was ultimately the eighth applicant to be considered for the position.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Kompany said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of FC Bayern. It’s a great honour to be able to work for this club – FC Bayern is an institution in international football. As a coach, you have to stand for who you are as a person: I love having the ball, being creative – and we also have to be aggressive on the pitch and courageous. I’m now looking forward to the most basic things: working with the players, building a team. When the foundation is in place, success will follow.”

With Bayern, Kompany won’t have much time to establish his leadership abilities. The Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal crowns are the ultimate domestic honours, and anything less than that, along with a solid European finish, will not be acceptable to the German heavyweights, who will look for quick results. Even with a strong team at his disposal that includes players like Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane, the Manchester City icon still has a lot of work ahead of him.
