Bayelsa Flood Disaster – See List Of Donours Thus Far

The month of October 2022 will go down in the history as the month in which Nigeria experienced its worst flooding incident, via the Bayelsa Flood Disaster.

With about 600 people reported dead, and over a million people displaced, it has also created a huge humanitarian challenge for the country. It has again questioned the ability of the Nigerian authorities to contain incidents of the nature.

In this report however, The Eagle presents a compilation of individuals and groups that have responded to the distress situation caused by the Bayelsa flood disaster, donating cash or other relief materials. We will continue to update the list as more information come:

1. Azikel Group pledged N350m worth of food items tovictims of the flood disaster. President of Azikel Group, Dr Azibapu Eruani, also urged corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the victims.

2. United Nigeria Airlines: bags of rice, cartons of noodles, and bottled water among others.
3. The United States pledged $1 million in humanitarian aid towards the Bayelsa Flood Disaster fund. The US Consulate in Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard said: “We are filled with grief for the flood victims who have lost so much – livelihoods, homes, and even loved ones,” said Leonard.
4. The Central Naval Command (CNC) of the Nigerian Navy donated food and humanitarian supplies
5. United Nigeria Airlines donated relief materials to five of their host communities in the State.
6. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson donated over 15 million Naira to alleviate the acute living conditions of flood victims in Bayelsa,
7. Seriake Dickson’s friends raised N11 million to support the victims The Senator announced a donation of N400,000 Naira to each of the wards in the Sagbama Ekeremor Senatorial District.
8. The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on Saturday donated over 2,900 relief items to some communities displaced by flood in Bayelsa State. The items included bags of rice, tins of groundnut oil, tin tomatoes, treated mosquito nets, mattresses and bags of beans. Others materials were bags of garri, printed wrappers, and indomie. There were also cartons of toothpaste, sanitary towels, evaporated milk, sacks of sugar among others.
9. Five wards in Kolokuma/Opokuma Council Area in Bayelsa have received food and medical supplies to mitigate the effect of flooding on the displaced persons. The donors, Wisdom Fafi and the Goldcoast Developmental Foundation say their donations should be complemented by others to make life more meaningful for the people.
10. The former caretaker chairman Wisdom Fafi and the Goldcoast Developmental Foundation have struck a partnership to provide food and drugs to cater to the welfare of the displaced persons in the Area.
11. Miss Peace Niger Delta & founder leaders of tomorrow foundation Queen Tonwerigha Tamarabrakemi distributed food items to affected flood victims in Bayelsa State. The Current Miss Peace Niger Delta beauty Queen and founder Leaders of Tomorrow Foundation, a Non=Governmental Organisation went out to the street of Yenagoa to support victims
