A number of players have turned against the manager, raising questions about Xavi ‘s future at Barcelona.

According to ESPN, several Barcelona players are not pleased with their manager because they have begun to doubt his methods and judgement. A portion of the team apparently feels that their head coach has let them down, but Xavi thinks he still has the players’ complete backing.

The friction within the team reportedly started after the match against Almeria in December where the club somehow managed to pick up a narrow 3-2 win. The former Al-Sadd coach delivered his harshest team talk at half-time of that match which did not go down well with some of the players.

Although some members of the team have lost faith in Xavi, the club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco still believe in him and the team’s ability to succeed despite the current season’s mixed results. In the wake of their devastating 4-1 loss to rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, Manchester City’s coach and Xavi’s former manager at the Catalan club, Pep Guardiola, recently delivered a supportive message to the entire team, especially the coach.

The former Blaugrana captain inked a new contract earlier in the season that would keep him with the team through 2025. The club’s financial limitations, however, might make it challenging for them to fire the manager before his contract ends.
