As WAEC Releases 2020 SSCE Results, Please Crosscheck …

As the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, it would be mixed feelings from different quarters..

This is because indications are that not all that sat for the exams will have their result released.

Head of the National office, Patrick Areghan, providing a background said that a total of 1,549,740 registered for the examination, added that 1,338, 348 representing 86.99 per cent obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five subjects (ie with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.

He said 1,003, 668 candidates representing 65.24 per cent obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

A caution on the 2020 SSCE Results however is that WAEC had earlier announced that it would be released on Monday, November 2, 2020, but this was postponed due to the violence and arson in the country.

WAEC had also said the unrest in the country affected some of its offices and operations nationwide, but it is not clear right away whether this affected the results of some candidates, warranting the need for all those who sat for the ecamination to crosscheck with the council.

To do this, candidates have been advised to check WAEC website to be sure their fate.

In a statement on its Twitter page last Wednesday, the council had announced a postponement of the release of the results citing the curfew introduced in some states in the wake of the #AntiSARS protests.

That was a recant from its September 14 that it would release candidates’ results in the next 45 days.

 “WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfillment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week, it had to be postponed till next week. The exact date will be made known soon,” it had written.
