Morale is low at the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc, following the incident of last April 29, 2026.
That was the day that witnessed the abduction of its staff members in the Ogun region, a statement it issued today indicates.
“Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) confirms that two of its staff members in the Ogun region were abducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2026”, the statement reads. It adds:
“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time.
“IBEDC is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safe return of the affected staff. We are also in active engagement with their families, providing the necessary support.
“Given the sensitive nature of this incident and ongoing efforts to resolve it, we are unable to provide further details at this time.
“We kindly request understanding and restraint as we prioritise the safety and well-being of those involved. We will provide updates as appropriate.”
The Eagle reports that Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) had last March, announced the appointment of Mr. Deolu Ijose as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
READ ALSO: The appointment followed a recent reconstitution of the company’s Board of Directors, and sees Ijose succeeding Engr. Francis Agoha, FNSE who held the position before then.
“Ijose brings extensive experience in the power sector to the role, having previously served as Managing Director of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and as Chief Commercial Officer at IBEDC.
“His familiarity with the company’s operations is expected to strengthen leadership continuity and drive performance”, the statement said.
It added that the Ibadan Electric Board had expressed confidence in the ability of the new CEO to consolidate on existing gains while steering the company toward improved operational efficiency and service delivery.
