Anthony May Be Out Of World Cup Group Stage – Report
The medical staff of Brazil‘s national team has disclosed that Manchester United star Antony is still in the “healing phase” following a hip injury.
Since being substituted at halftime of United’s 3-0 victory over Sheriff in the Europa League on October 27, Antony has not participated for the team.
The £85 million ($98m) summer signing has been sidelined with a knock, according to Erik ten Hag. On Sunday, United lost 3-1 at Aston Villa, and ten Hag later confirmed that the player has been sidelined for three straight games.

Despite his fitness issues, Antony was included in Tite’s final Brazil World Cup roster, and Selecao doctor Rodrigo Lasmar provided a progress report on his recovery after the selection was made.
“Antony had a small problem in the flexor muscles of the right hip, he is in the recovery process,” said Lasmar.
”We’re in contact with the player, with the medical department. He’s in a recovery phase. We have time for him to recover in time to be with us. This week is important, we are talking day by day. This final phase is important. A lot depends on this week. I spoke to him in the morning, he’s feeling better, it’s early. He hasn’t started training with the group yet, he’s in physical therapy.”
In his first three Premier League games at Old Trafford, Antony made a big impact, becoming the first player in United history to do so. The 22-year-old, however, hasn’t scored since a 2-1 victory against Everton on October 9 and received harsh criticism for what many saw as his’showboating’ against Sheriff.
