Moses Simon asks for support from the fans as coach Jose Peseiro happy with Afcon’s quarter-final win over Angola.

Simon was the best player on the pitch and was rewarded at the end of the game. He capitalised on the opportunity to make his plea to the supporters.

“I am really happy about the victory against Angola and I feel very happy because the win is for Nigerians. You can be a Man-of-the-Match and your team loses the game,” the Nantes attacker stated.

“I really appreciate the support Nigerians have given to the Super Eagles and they should keep supporting us.”

Victor Osimhen has managed an assist and a goal in the five matches played at Afcon, despite the numerous chances that come his way. However, according to Simon, that is not a major concern for the deadly striker.

“The atmosphere is good in the team. Osimhen is thinking about winning, not just scoring,” he stated.

“If he gets a chance to score he will take it, but he’s focused on the team’s victory first.”

However, Nigeria coach Peseiro could not hide his joy after the win, but felt they could have had more goals.

“The team could have created more chances. We are a quality team. Angola were a very good team but we were out of luck,” he said.

“Once again, we played without conceding, we scored a goal, but I would have liked us to score more. I remain satisfied with the performance of my players so far.”
