To Escape

An elderly woman has narrated her travails while trying to escape from bandits during their attack on an ECWA church in Omugo community, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State.

The siege on the church happened on March 22, 2026, and the woman who was not named in an interview from from 5:31 said that it was only God that saved her from the attackers.

According to the report, she and other worshippers were having a Bible study class, when the bandits invaded the church premises.

She said they started shooting sporadically leaving everyone in stampede and fear.

She said she wanted to escape but was pushed to the ground by other worshippers who were also trying to escape.

Somehow, she managed to get up and when she made another attempt to escape, she discovered that one of the attackers had grabbed her hand.

She said she shouted, “Jesus save me,” and he released her.

“After they had run off I stood up and tried to run but one of the bandits grabbed my hand and I started shouting “Jesus save me” and he let go of my hand.

“He then picked up a heavy stick and tried to strike me but I shouted again “Jesus save me.” He stopped, dropped the stick and instead took the bag I was carrying”
