17 Tinubu Men Ready To Take Over At Rivers Agencies

There are indications that men loyal to President Bola Tinubu are set to take over key agencies in Rivers State.

The Senate has commenced screening of the 17 nominees as forwarded by President Bola Tinubu, to oversee critical institutions the Independent Electoral Commission, the Civil Service Commission, and the Local Government Service Commission.

Senate Leader and Chairman of the committee, the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Oversight of Emergency Rule in Rivers State, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central), is a stanch ally of the president,

According to him, all nominees had been cleared by both the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.

They have also completed the their asset declarations as stipulated in the Constitution and by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio had on Thursday, June 12, read the President’s communication listing the nominees.

The agencies and members are as follows:

1. Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC):

Chairman: Dr. Michael Ekpai Odey

Members: Mr. Lezaasi Lenee Torbira, Prof. Arthur Nwafor, Prof. Godfrey Woke Mbudiogha, Prof. (Dame) Joyce Akaniwor, Dr. (Mrs.) Olive A. Bruce, and Prof. Chidi Halliday.

2. Rivers State Civil Service Commission:

Chairman: Dr. Barikor Baribuma

Members: Lot Egopija, Ms. Maeve Ere-Bestman, Mrs. Joy Obiaju, and Mrs. Charity Lloyd Harry.

3. Rivers State Local Government Service Commission:

Chairman: Israel N. Amadi

Members: Linus Nwandem, Lady Christabel George-Didia, Dr. Tonye Willie Pepple, Richard Ewoh, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ofik (rtd), and Sammy Apiafi.
