VIDEO: Kylian Mbappe Sparks Post-Match Melee After Fallout With Defender

Kylian Mbappe appeared to spark a post-match melee with Rennes’ Warmed Omari, as the defender hit out at alleged taunts during Wednesday’s semi-final.

Tensions erupted at the Parc des Princes when Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Rennes in the Coupe de France semifinal with a single goal from Kylian Mbappe after a fierce match. But once the dust had settled on the pitch, the Parc des Princes spectators saw a heated post-match argument between the goal scorer and Omari.

A heated exchange with Mbappe occurred throughout the match as Omari seemed enraged by purported provocations. As multiple PSG players intervened to defuse the situation, the altercation intensified, including Marquinhos, Lucas Hernandez, and Randal Kolo Muani.

Omari managed to break free and try to face his opponents again, even while Rennes substitute Jeanuel Belocian tried to hold him down. As Arthur Theate brought Omari to the locker room corridor, the tense confrontation remained edgy.

Omari endured a challenging evening against Mbappe, with the PSG forward proving to be a constant threat. Omari’s struggles were evident as he conceded a penalty for impeding Mbappe in the box. However, PSG failed to capitalise on the opportunity as Steve Mandanda denied Mbappe’s spot-kick. But Omari’s misfortune persisted as he inadvertently deflected Mbappe’s shot into the net, resulting in the decisive goal that propelled PSG to the final against Lyon.

In the aftermath of the altercation, Rennes coach Julien Stephan chose to brush aside the incident and claimed that he was not entirely aware of the reasons behind Omari’s outburst.

“I don’t know (what happened),” he told beIN Sports. “A little bit of irritation, we’ll calm it all down. There was certainly frustration at the end of the match. We’ll recover well for Sunday.”

On Saturday, PSG returns to action in the Ligue 1 against Clermont Foot.
