Why Man Utd Must Sign Benzema To Take Pressure Off Hojlund – Ince

Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad is someone Manchester United should sign in order to “take pressure off” Rasmus Hojlund and rekindle their top-four pursuit.

The 36-year-old is rumoured to be searching for a way out of Saudi Arabia since he is having trouble settling there. One of the all-time great English midfielders, Ince thinks the Red Devils could entice Benzema to Old Trafford since Hojlund and Marcus Rashford have both been inconsistent since the start of the season.

Speaking to instantcasino.com, Ince said: “If Man United can get Karim Benzema, then you’re taking him all day long. Signing Benzema would lift the whole club, including the fans. I don’t care if he’s 36, he’s a world-class player. It would be great if the club could get him – it would take a lot of pressure off Hojlund and it could lift them into those top four places. He’s an out-and-out goalscorer – if he does leave the Saudi Pro League then there will be a few teams trying to sign him, that’s for sure.”

Hojlund cost United £72 million ($90 million) in the summer, but in 16 Premier League games, the striker has only managed two goals. The high price tag increases the strain, and Ince thinks that having Benzema around would let the kid express himself more freely.

“If Manchester United were to move for him (Benzema), it also takes the pressure off Rasmus Hojlund to a certain degree, who is still a young striker who would prefer to have a senior player to look up to,” the former United midfielder added.

“The pressure wouldn’t be on him to score every time he plays, and he can spend his time in training learning from one of the best. It would be a great bit of business for United if they could sign him, it really would.”

Benzema has firmly denied rumours that he will be leaving Al-Ittihad, which is highly significant. Denying having submitted a transfer request to the club, he accused the French media of disseminating false information.

It’s unclear if United will decide to go after Benzema in the last week of the January transfer window. They have appeared to be lacking in attacking resources, therefore Erik Ten Hag would really benefit from adding a striker with Benzema’s experience before the season’s business concludes.
