Death Of 400 Level Undergraduate In Girlfriend’s House Rocks University

The death of 400 level undergraduate in his girlfriend’s rented apartment is rocking his university campus. The 23 year old is reported to have taken his own life, amidst reports that he had been struggling with gambling addiction.

The tragic incident is stirring the emotions of both students and faculty of the Chuka University, located in the Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya.

The victim whose names were not given in the report by Nairobinews, was found dead at his girlfriend’s rental house in Kangaru village, Embu County.

The report said the lady was not at home when the incident happened.

She was reported to have left the house to attend a lecture on campus when the incient happened.

She was however shocked to her bones when, upon coming home, she discovered what happened, upon entering the bathroom.

The lifeless body of the student was found anging from a belt attached to the bathroom’s roof.

Thambo sub-location Assistant Chief Rose Wambeti confirmed that the girlfriend immediately reported the incident at Kangaru Police Post.

“Around 3pm, I was called and told that there was someone who had killed himself in a house. I came and I was told by the girl that she left the house at noon and when she returned she found the boyfriend had hanged himself,” Rose Wambeti, Thambo sub-location Assistant Chief, said.

Ms Wambeti said the girl friend had immediately reported at the police station, what she saw upon getting home.

According to the platform, preliminary investigations suggest that the young man’s gambling addiction may have played a role in his decision to end his life.

It added that the body of the student, amidst a somber procession, had been transferred to Embu Level Five Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

The police have commenced investigations into the incident, it said.

While the police continues its investigation on the death of 400 level undergraduate in girlfriend’s house, it obviously calls for increased interest on the total wellbeing of people, especially when battling with issues of concern.
