Over 498k Dollars is not a small amount of money by many standards especially when found with an interested party on election eve.
The question on the lips of many now, is what a member of the House of Representatives is doing with such an amount of money on election eve.
Especially coming a few days after his television and radio stations – Atlantic Television Network and Wish FM 99.5 respectively were allegedly bombed by gunmen, the reported discovery of the sum on Dr Chinyere Igwe, has seen tongues wagging.
Igwe, represents Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2 in the house and is believed to be a staunch supporter of the People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The discovery of the bundle of dollars was along Ana Road, Port Harcourt in the early hours of today.
Aside the said 498,100 dillar, also found on him was a list of people for whom the money was meant.
Providing a background, Grace Iringe-Koko, of the Rivers State Police Command, said the arrest was during a stop and search exercise by a team deployed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office.
Igwe, who represents Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2 in the green chamber of the National Assembly, is a staunch supporter of the People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Following his arrest, Iringe-Koko said the Assistant Inspector General of Police deployed to the state for elections, AIG Abutu Yaro, is on the matter and making efforts to unearth other valuable information related to the cash and the person it was allegedly found on.
He has equally appealed to Rivers people to make available to the police useful information or suspicious movements by people.
“Members of the public are encouraged to avail themselves of the available hotlines to report any observation they believe have potential to lead to crime or break down of law and order:, she said.
