NYSC Scheme- NIJ Sends Forth 2019 Batch Of Youth Corpers

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has organised a send forth for its students going for the 2019 one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

The send forth was held at the NIJ auditorium in Ogba Lagos, with the Provost, Mr Gbemiga Ogunleye admonishing the participants to be good ambassadors of the institution.

He also admonished them against joining wrong companies in both their interest, the interest of their families and that of the school

His jocular remark that none of them would be posted to Sambisa forest, was received with a loud amen, with the provost reiterating the need for the NIJ representatives to prove themselves worthy ambassadors of the school.

The yearly send-forth normally sees former students of the school coming to share their experiences in the course of the service year, and this year’s was not different.

Agemo Oluwatimilehin and Zacheus Ukhueleigbe took to the floor providing necessary survival tips on camp to the prospective corpers.

While Timilehin enjoined her colleagues not to shy away from responsibilities, especially those aligned with their primary field – Mass Communication, Zacheus observed that the service year truly offered the opportunity for people to explore, but opined that this should not be done without caution.
