  1. Aretha Franklin was born in March 25, 1942 and died on August 16, 2018, aged 76. She began her career as a child singer in the gospel music genre. Her father, C.L Franklin, a minister in the Baptist church in Detroit, died in a shooting incident shortly after midnight on Sunday, June 10, 1979. He was shot twice at point-blank range.

  1. Despite performing as a teen singer in the Baptist Church in Detroit, Aretha only began a secular career in 1960 at the age of 18.
