The Nigerian community in the United Kingdom has again risen to the challenge of supporting their own, a young family which just lost its breadwinner.
This they are doing in respect of Herbert, a young father of three. (see our earlier story here)
They have launched an appeal on Gofundme, the charity platform which has become the succor of many in financial distress.
Their appeal reads thus:
The Nigerians in Thornaby community wish to support the family of one of us who suddenly and painfully left us.
Just as life was beginning to take shape, tragedy struck. Herbert, a calm and devoted Nigerian husband and father of three young children (the youngest aged 8), passed away suddenly in his sleep in Thornaby.
Only days earlier, Herbert had been grieving the loss of his father in Nigeria. Although he was unable to travel for the burial, he gave everything he could financially to ensure his father received a dignified farewell—exhausting most of his savings in the process.
Heartbreakingly, Herbert passed away on the very day his father was laid to rest. His children were the ones who discovered him that morning, a moment no child should ever face. An unimaginable trauma which would stay with them for long.

Herbert’s wife is now left to care for their three children alone while facing the heavy financial burden of funeral and repatriation costs, as the family hopes to lay Herbert to rest in Nigeria with dignity.
As a community, we are kindly asking for your support. Your donation—no matter how small—will help ease the financial strain and provide much-needed assistance to a grieving family as they try to find their footing in a life forever changed.

Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
May Herbert’s soul rest in peace.
