WIMCA 23 Mentors Women On How To Reach Career Peaks

Women professionals have again been charged to aim for the best in the quest to reach their career peaks.

They got the advice from professional women under the umbrella of Women In Marketing, Communication and Advertising Agency (WIMCA) which held an annual programme lat the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Not less than ten important personalities from different walks of life attended the event 

The first speaker,  and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), West Africa and Godreji Consultant, Mr Kayode Oladapo, giving a  welcome charge, advised young professionals to decide early what professional path to follow.

As a way to reach their career peaks, he advised them against being held back by the past, adding: 

“The past doesn’t write the future, so learn fast by applying the SWAT analysis which encourages you to strengthen your strength while you hire your weakness, for it takes more energy to learn something new than improving on what you’ve already known.”

A notable female speaker, Mrs Solape Akinpelu- Chief Executive Officer (CEO/ Co-founder Hervest, specifically urged female entrepreneurs to have a fixed self identity that cannot be shaken.

 “Know thyself; be true to your values; know the universe and know God”

She further encouraged her listeners to build specific products from places of natural vigour while staying consistent, for consistency establishes credibility.

Mabel Adetoye- The Head Brand and Marketing Communication for Wema Bank plc, who moderated the first panelist session, interviewed Nana Milagrosa,  the Founder/ chief Experience Curator(Cxc).

To reach their career peaks Nana encouraged young feminine folks never to take No, for an answer!, when in pursuit of something dear to them, especially when the motive is gender subjugation or discrimination.

In her words- ” if the door of opportunity seems closed, kick through the ceiling and break through the obstacle, for there is always an answer to every problem!”

The programme featured another session of panelists involving Mrs Oluwaseyi lolade- founder of a mentorship and networking platform for women tagged “Sisters not Strangers.”

Adeola Odesanya- Co- founder, Out of Home;  Tosin Adefako, Head, Marketing PZ; Dr. Abiola Salami;  The Peak Performance coach- Iamchamp;  Kemi Longue, Tolulope Medebem and Nana Bejide among others were also featured at the conference.

The convener of the association Mr Joshua Ajayi thanked the speakers and participants, essentially students from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Ogba; Yaba College of Technology  (Yabatech and Lagos State University (LASU)  respectively for gracing the event.

He admonished the students to use the WIMCA platform to unlock their potential while positioning themselves for premium performance.
