Will Joao Felix Stay At Barcelona? Atletico Madrid President Gives Transfer Update on Loanee 

Joao Felix left Atletico Madrid to sign a loan with Barcelona following a turbulent summer, and the president of Atleti today discussed Felix’s future.

The Portugal international was keen to join the Blaugrana, waiting until the very last minute to finalise his dream transfer and even agreeing to take a significant pay cut to make it happen. Felix left a lasting impact when he arrived, scoring and setting up goals to start his Barca career, and quickly securing a spot in the starting eleven. The Catalan team intends to hire the Portuguese player permanently in the summer of 2024, according to recent sources.

It will be challenging to reach a long-term deal whether Atleti is prepared to transfer Felix to their competitors because it is expected that Barcelona would need to pay at least €105 million (£92 million/$113 million) to sign Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo in the upcoming summer.

“Joao Felix will be one of the best players in Europe, I wish him all the best at Barca,” said Cerezo to COPE Partidazo. “He’s on loan there but if Barca wants to sign Joao on a permanent deal, they’ll have the option to make it happen for sure. Otherwise, he will return.”

Felix has been called up to the Portugal national team for their qualifying matches against Iceland and Liechtenstein for the European Championship. After that, on November 25, he will return to his team for their match against Rayo Vallecano.
