Wike’s Allegations: Reuben Abati Fights To Redeem His Name

Arise News anchor Reuben Abati has taken steps to redeem his name and credibility following allegations by Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Media aide to Wike, Lere Olayinka had made several allegations against Abati while appearing on Arise News’ breakfast programme, ‘The Morning Show’, on Friday, necessitating responses from Abati.

The allegations include:

i.                  That Abati once begged Wike for money

ii.                that he was never asked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to return any money, and

iii.               that he was asked to step aside from The Morning Show on Friday.

In his responses through a statement posted on social media on Saturday, Abati said:

“I have never approached Minister Nyesom Wike to beg for money – that is a lie.

“If anyone – including an ex-partner – went to him under false pretenses to solicit funds in my name, I place a clear disclaimer. Such actions were not authorised by me, and Minister Wike reserves every right to call it out as fraud.”

On the allegation, he was asked by the EFCC to return money, he said it was not true, and that the anti- former chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu actuall apologised to him.

Reuben Abati while responding to the third allegation, stated other engagements made his to miss the show, and not what Olayinka had alleged.
