Why Sir Jim Ratcliffe Man United Announcement Will Be Delayed
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a minority interest in Manchester United will not be able to be confirmed this week.
Ratcliffe is scheduled to finalise his acquisition of a quarter of the Old Trafford team for an estimated sum of £1.4 billion ($1.7 billion) from the Glazer family, who currently own United. But in order to purchase the shares that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), he needs make a formal offer.

Ratcliffe will have to wait before he can complete the procedure because the NYSE will be closed for a few days due to the Thanksgiving holidays in the US, which start on Thursday, November 23, according to Sky Sports. Ratcliffe emerged as the front-runner to buy a stake in the club when the Qatari consortium withdrew in October, but the deal is still dragging on.
Before reorganising their offer, Ratcliffe and his INEOS group were in the running to seize complete ownership from the Glazers. The club’s hierarchy may change as a result of the English billionaire taking over the football operations of the team.
The takeover of Old Trafford by Ratcliffe and United won’t happen until at least next week. Meanwhile, this weekend’s Premier League matchup between Erik ten Hag’s squad and Everton will take place at Goodison Park.
