Why Should We Go To Bed Without Food -Catholic ArchBishop

Why should any Nigerian go to bed without food in his stomach? This is the big question that a Catholic ArchBishop, Dr Mathew Ishaya-Audu has posed before President Muhammadu Buahr-led federal government.

Ishaya-Audu, who is the Catholic Archbishop of Jos posed the question in Jos yesterday during an interaction with journalists, The Eagle can report.

The Archbishop argued that given the country’s level of blessing, it was inexcusable for anyone in Nigeria to go to bed hungry..

“It is also unreasonable for anybody youth to finish school without job given the endowments in the country”

He said although the church would continue to pray for God’s intervention but that the government should also do its duty in ensuring equitable management of the resources which God had given the country.

According to him, there was need to tackle insecurity and other social vices currently being recorded in the country

To the Archbishop, Nigerians should seek divine interventions concerning its affairs as much of its challenges are created by them.

He said the government needed to improve governance by being accountable to the people,

ArchBishop Ishaya Audu, had before now, been the Catholic Bishop of Lafia diocese.

Archbishop Matthew Ishaya Audu was born on June 7, 1959, in Tudu Auku, in the Diocese of Makurdi. After attending the St. James Minor Seminary in Keffi, he completed his philosophical and theological studies at the St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos.

He was ordained a priest on June 23, 1984, for the Diocese of Makurdi, after which he held positions as Deputy parish preist in Keffi, Assistant Parish Priest in Lafia and Parish priest of Nasarawa.

Archbishop Ishaya Audu was also at the Institute of Moral Theology of the Pontifical Lateran University, Licentiate, Rome, Professor of Moral Theology and Vice-Rector of the Major Seminary of St. Thomas Aquinas, Makurdi and again in Rome, for the Doctorate in Moral Theology at the Alfonsianum.
