Why Real Madrid Board Have A Problem With Ancelotti’s Decisions

The Real Madrid board is beginning to object to Carlo Ancelotti’s pairing of seasoned midfielders Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Real Madrid lost ground in La Liga after a weekend 1-1 tie with Sevilla. According to Relevo, the club’s board views Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga as “untouchable,” and they are starting to object to the veteran tandem playing at the same time. Modric and Kroos finished the game on the field together.

Kroos, 33, played the whole game at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, while 38-year-old Modric replaced Valverde for the final 23 minutes plus stoppage time when the scoreline was still 0-0. Ancelotti had also withdrawn Tchouameni moments before. Kroos and Modric had last spent meaningful time on the pitch together in the city derby defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Tuesday night’s Champions League match against Braga will be Los Blancos’ first Champions League match after a brief border crossing into Portugal. This season, Real has defeated Union Berlin and Napoli in both of their two group stage contests.
