Prior to taking on Harry Kane ‘s Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinal, Federico Valverde is feeling confident.

The Uruguay international showed his respect for Bayern Munich’s star striker Harry Kane but claimed that Real Madrid boast of having world-class defenders in their squad who can deal with the star-studded attack of the Bavarian club.

The Los Blancos defence, commanded by German defender Antonio Rudiger, shut off Manchester City’s prolific goal scorer Erling Haaland over the course of two legs as the Norwegian struggled mightily in the quarterfinal. They have also given up the fewest goals in La Liga this season—22.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the crucial game, the 25-year-old said, “We have world-class defenders, who have been through every moment at this club and have been through Champions League finals everywhere. So we have to respect them first and then look at the strikers we have in front of us. I’m very calm thanks to the defenders we have.”

Tuesday’s opening leg of the Champions League semi-final matchup between Carlo Ancelotti’s team and the Bundesliga will take place in Germany. On Saturday, the team will play Cadiz in La Liga.
