Why Is Govt Not Addressing This Highway Chaos?

In Lagos traffic gridlock has always been an issue but it has become nearly unbearable in recent times. A tanker blew up on Festac Link Bridge in Amuwo-Odofin last year December and up till now, they are still fixing the bridge.

This is a small bridge in a residential area, so why is it taking so long? And why are tankers allowed to ply the bridge in a residential area?

To add insult to injury, anywhere from Cele to Apapa-Berger is a complete death trap as lorries, trailers and tankers have made these road their garage.

The incoming lane from oshodi is completely blocked and there’s no one-way or two-ways as bikes and keke keep moving in all directions,

In fact, bike men now park their bikes on the only available lane being plied by both the incoming and outgoing vehicles.

Is it that the government has no interest in this area? Or how is it possible that Lagos has degenerated into this after 8yrs of steady progress?

The health hazard is unquantifiable and the risk of life everyday is maddening.

In a few weeks the festive season will be in full gear and if this whole traffic/road maintenance/sanitation mess is not properly managed by now it’ll only get worse then.
