Why Agege-Pen Cinema Bridge Has Not Been Completed – Official

An official of the construction firm handling the Agege-Pen Cinema bridge in Agege Lagos has given reason why the project is yet to be completed.

The official who gave his name as Victor Okpara, is in charge of the earth-moving section of Hitech Construction Company Limited, the company given the project by the Lagos State government.

He told the Eagle correspondent yesterday that the project suffered delays due to two factors.

These he identified as the last rainy season and Covid-19 lock down which prohibited movement of people from place to place.

The Eagle reports that the Agege-Pen cinema bridge has been projected for completion next year April, 2021.
He however expressed the hope that work on the project would be accelerated now that both hinderances had given way.

Our correspondent observed though that the ongoing construction had displaced a number of businesses, especially retail outlets located on both sides of the road.

Upon enquiry on the impact of the road construction on business activities, Christian Agbo, a bread seller he had been experience low sales since the commencement of the project.

According to hi, many people are wary of the dust  has been low returns on his sale since the construction of the road began.
In the same vein an alcoholic drinks (Liquor) seller, Oluwakemi Ishola also attribute the low sales of her market to the construction.

When our Correspondent visited the area yesterday, the sign of the ongoing construction was everywhere with dust everywhere.
Many of the street traders dislocated by the road construction have set up new stalls at the low base of the road.

The Eagle reports that

Sanwo-Olu has assured last year promised that the  Agege-Pen Cinema flyover, would be delivered in July 2020
